2011-2012 Schedules for JK/K

For the 2011-2012 school year, the majority of schools that surround an Owl child care centre are on a full-day, alternate day schedule.

Each school provides parents with a schedule of red and blue days. Red indicates children who attend on a Monday-Wednesday-alternate Friday schedule. Blue is the Tuesday-Thursday-alternate Friday schedule.

To make scheduling consistent for parents, Owl provides its own schedule of red and blue days. If your child is on the red scehdule at school (M-W-F), they will be on the red schedule at Owl on T-Th-F. If your child is on the blue T-Th-F schedule at school, they will be on the blue M-W-F schedule at Owl.

In recent years, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and the Waterloo Region District School Board have collaborated to produce a consistent schedule to minimize the impacts on families.  For the 2011-2012 school year, the schedules are inconsistent. In fact, there are 21 Fridays where the schedules are completely opposite. This poses an issue for child care centres who have children attending from both school boards. On these Fridays, our centres are over-enrolled and cannot accomodate all children.

Centre Supervisors have communicated this issue to the affected parents at their centre. Parents are advised to review teh Owl schedule of JK/K days carefully. All Fridays with the date noted in white are affected. Each month, the supervisor will send a care request home to the JK/K children asking parents to indicate if they require care on the Fridays noted with a white date.

Spaces will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Families who are able to make alternate arrangements are ecouraged to do so in an effort that those without another option for child care can have a space.  Those who make alternate arrangements will receive a credit to their account (restrictions apply, inquire with the supervisor). If we are unable to provide care to your child, you will recieve a credit to your account.
