A Fun Filled Summer

Preschool 2

The Preschool 2 children have had a vibrant and exciting summer filled with laughter, creativity, and discovery. We kicked off the season with our Canada Birthday Party on June 30th, where the children celebrated the country’s special day by crafting maple leaf decorations, creating dazzling fireworks with sparkly pipe cleaners on black paper, and enjoying a red-and-white-themed dance party with flags and festive bracelets. Every Wednesday in July and into August became an anticipated favourite—Water Day! The children filled buckets with shovels, made chalk “potions,” splashed each other with joy, and constructed a flowing river with wooden pieces. Thursdays were Walk Days, when we ventured out to the pond, excitedly spotting fish and frogs along the way. We kept the walk engaging by playing games like Red Light, Green Light and jumping to avoid the cracks in the sidewalk.

Fridays were all about Bike Day, when the children proudly brought in their bikes from home and rode in a bike rodeo behind the school. They had fun with free bike play and familiar games. The Taste Test day was a sensory adventure as the children bravely sampled sweet, sour, and salty snacks, followed by a blindfolded baby food guessing game. Beach Day transported us to the seaside with water play, sensory beach bags full of sand, glitter, and toy fish, and music while relaxing on beach towels. Indoors, they explored a beach sensory pool filled with shells and gems, and even played a mini game of beach volleyball.

Multicultural Day was a meaningful celebration of diversity as families shared photos, clothing, and books from their cultures, helping the children learn more about each other’s backgrounds. On PJ and Stuffy Day, the children came cozy in their pyjamas, cuddled their favourite stuffed animals, and enjoyed a relaxing movie. Karaoke Day brought music and movement, complete with dance clothes, handmade paper necklaces, and joyful singing. Costume Day let imaginations soar as the children dressed in their favourite costumes, created crowns, and decorated colourful masks.

We also had a silly and festive Christmas in July celebration. The children wore holiday attire, made candy canes from pipe cleaners, played in a sensory bin of “snow” made from flour, and stirred a pretend cup of hot chocolate in a themed sensory bin. Bubble Day was filled with fun as the kids chased bubbles outdoors, created bubble art by blowing soapy, coloured bubbles onto paper, and built a car wash for toy cars out of cardboard boxes. Chalk Day brought a world of colour as the children smashed chalk to make “chalk soup,” drew hopscotch paths, and created artwork on black paper. We wrapped up with Pet Day, when the children proudly brought photos of their pets to share, made paper bag animals, tried origami, and sculpted animals from clay.

This summer has been a whirlwind of creativity, outdoor exploration, and meaningful connections. Each themed day brought something new and exciting, sparking joy and curiosity in every child. From biking to beach days, chalk art to cultural celebrations, Preschool 2 has had a truly memorable summer filled with friendship, learning, and endless fun.child laying cover in a blanket from the waist up with cucumber slices on her face two children crouching down dressed in Christmas costumes with santa claus hats ongroup of six children standing inside of the grocery store
