The School-age 3 children have been showing so much creativity and enthusiasm as they explore activities based on their own interests. Each day, our room is buzzing with ideas, and teamwork as the children make choices about what they want to do; from puzzles and crafts to imaginative pretend play and active outdoor games. It’s wonderful to see they how play together, share ideas, collaborate, and take pride in what they make. This month, we also took time to talk and reflect about Orange Shirt Day and Thanksgiving. When we talked about Orange Shirt Day, we reflected on the importance of respect, inclusion, and remembering that “Every Child Matters.” The children shared ideas about how we can all show kindness and make sure everyone feels included and cared for. They also reflected about how blessed we all are for not having to go through the same ordeal. Then they decorated their own paper orange shirts. During our Thanksgiving reflection, the children shared what they are thankful for, from family and friends to pets and games. They wrote these on paper feathers and we put them on a paper turkey craft to display on our bulletin board. Their thoughtful answers reminded us all about gratitude and kindness. Throughout all these experiences, the children show a strong sense of belonging as they form friendships and work together. They are engaged in activities that inspire their curiosity and creativity. Their expression shines through art, conversation, and imaginative play, and their well-being is supported through both active movement and meaningful social interactions.
