Tell us a bit about yourself and why you chose RisingOaks Early Learning for your family’s child care needs?
I am an HR Project Manager by day, an outdoor enthusiast by night, and a proud momma all the time. My husband, John, and I love being active with our son, William, and our daughter, Emily, experiencing the world through their eyes. We chose RisingOaks because we felt that children could be children there and they seemed to value taking the time to be outdoors.

Directors, and parents who have a child in care for whom monthly fees are paid to RisingOaks are eligible to become members of the organization. What does it mean to be a member?
My children spent a substantial time in care, and being a member means that I could take a more active role in that care.

What would you say to a member who is contemplating joining the board but is not sure what they can bring to the table or whether they have the right skill set?
Take a chance on yourself. You definitely have value.

What would you say to a member who is not planning to attend the AGM because they believe it is just a boring review of the financials?
It is a great way to stay informed on what is happening and may impact your child’s care.

How does the Board / management try to engage RisingOaks members and families?
The Board and management encourages them to come to the AGM, and throws family events throughout the year.

What is a favourite book that you’ve enjoyed reading with your child?
So many! My son loves reading and has even started reading to his younger sister. I am so thankful for that!
