• Program Name: Toddler 2

September has been a very special month in the Toddler 2 program at RisingOaks | St. Patrick as we welcomed all of our new children and began our journey of building a caring, welcoming, and connected classroom community. For many of our toddlers, this month has been filled with new experiences, new faces, unfamiliar routines, and many exciting opportunities to explore. We are so proud of how beautifully the children have been settling in and becoming more comfortable in their new environment.

We recognize that every child adjusts to a new environment in their own unique way. Some children need a little extra comfort and reassurance when separating from their families, while others are ready to explore right away. We have been responding to each child's individual needs with patience, warmth, and understanding. For some children, having a familiar stuffy or comfort item from home has helped create a sense of security and connection between home and the classroom. These familiar items have provided comfort during moments when children needed a little extra reassurance.

A major focus this month has been building meaning connections with the children. We have spent time getting to know each child’s  interests, personalities, preferences, and ways of communicating. Through warm interactions, songs, stories, conversations, cuddles, and play, we are building trusting relationships that help children feel safe and secure. When children feel that they are known, heard, and cared for, they become more confident to explore, participate, and engage with others.

Our classroom environment has also been prepared with a variety of toys, materials, books, and open-ended materials for children to explore at their own pace. The children have enjoyed discovering different areas of the classroom, trying out new toys, experimenting with materials, and making choices about what interests them. Their natural curiosity has been wonderful to observe as they investigate their surroundings, develop new skills, and learn through hands-on play.

As the days have gone by, we have seen tremendous growth in the children's confidence. They are becoming increasingly familiar with our daily routines and are beginning to understand what comes next throughout the day. Transitions that may have felt unfamiliar at the beginning are becoming more predictable and comfortable. The children are learning to move from one experience to another, participate in group activities, clean up, wash their hands, enjoy meals and snacks, and prepare for nap time with growing confidence.

We are also beginning to see beautiful moments of connection between the children. Toddlers are watching one another, imitating each other's actions, sharing smiles, engaging in parallel play, and beginning to develop an awareness of their friends. These early social experiences are important building blocks for communication, cooperation, empathy, and relationships.

Most importantly, the children are doing amazing! Each child has made progress in their own way, and we are celebrating every small step from entering the classroom with greater confidence, to exploring a new toy, participating in a song, communicating a need, or finding comfort when they are feeling unsure. These moments may seem small, but they represent meaningful learning and growth.

As we look back on September, we are grateful for the trust that families have placed in us and for the opportunity to support each child during this important transition. We look forward to continuing to build strong relationships, encourage independence, support emotional development, and provide opportunities for discovery and learning.
