Welcome back to extended day! It’s been a wonderful and busy start to the new school year. We’re looking forward to an exciting year full of joy and learning!

The month of September has been filled with new experiences and routines as the children adjust to their new schedules. We have enjoyed getting know each child and have made observations of their developing interests. We watched as some children eagerly explored familiar areas, while other took time to become familiar with their new surroundings before diving on in. As educators we welcomed each child with warmth, helping them feel safe and comfortable in this new environment.

This month the children have engaged in various indoor and outdoor activities. Some children have shown interest in building blocks, puzzles and engaging in dramatic play. While others have enjoyed sensory play such as sand, play dough, slime and shaving cream. By observing the children’s interests, we implement various activities based off our observations to help scaffold on their learning. Our goal is to create an environment of kindness and trust all while having fun learning and exploring! Our hope for this year is for the children to create memorable moments, foster strong and meaningful connections with one another and engage in exciting learning opportunities.

The start of the year is focused on building strong relationship, establishing routines, and creating a welcoming environment where every child feels a sense of belonging. As educators we will support children as they adjust to their new transitions, encourage collaboration and foster independence, developing social skills and interests. Together we are building the foundation for a positive, engaging and successful school year.
