What a busy summer it has been. Between vacations for educators and children in our program room it has been at times quiet and busy. New infants starting and infants more familiar with routines although challenging at times, but also very rewarding as the snuggle and bonding has been so real. Our newer group has adjusted and are forming strong bonds amongst the educators in the classroom, even with the various vacation schedules happening. While our older infants are a little confused and put out that sometimes the newer infants are requiring more of our time. The infants have had the pleasure of exploring the raspberry bushes each time we go outside. Oliver and Annika always make a stop at the bushes and use their pincer grasp to pull off the sweet raspberries giving themselves a little snack before heading to the playground. With the hot, hot sun we have had some water days. Splashing, watching the water drip from sponges, floating frogs and boats to dumping buckets. The water has given us hours of cause and effect exploration, while helping to keep everyone cool. Zachary and Macarius making a splash watching as the water hits the ground and their peers. The special guests we had visit were great! Cara organized baby yoga and Guelph police to come and see us. What an opportunity that was. Baby yoga had us breathe with a ball watching it move in and out with our breath. Sadie was in awe as she gripped the ball with both hands feeling and watching it get bigger with her breath. The movement of the parachute had Sebby mesmerized and made him possibly think, how was this made? or how does this move so slowly? The Guelph police were a huge hit, especially Echo the dog. Sierra being drawn to the dog and wanting to go and say hi. Quietly saying dog with each move he made. Adjusting to new routines is harder for some than it is others, but Ollie and Clara have made the transition to childcare for their families a breeze. Smiles when they come in, reaching for their educators and exploring their new environment is what they look forward to when coming into the centre. September we will say good-bye to children moving up to the toddler room and different centres and we will be open to the new experiences that lie ahead.
